I grew up on our family dairy farm in Stirling, Ontario, Canada. I love getting out and exploring the beautiful crisp autumn leaves, being out on the water, and finding hidden gems. My parents raised me on the same family farm where my mum grew up, and my dad grew up on a family farm close by in Marysville, Ontario.

My heritage traces back to Ireland, though we don’t have any direct relatives there any longer. I still find myself drawn towards that cultural connection, from the rolling green hills, refreshing rain, or Irish whiskey to Celtic knots. For better or worse, I am considered a millennial. As an independent, caucasian female, I am also a solo traveller.

Based on the Canadian Explorer Quotient, my personality falls under Cultural Explorers, which lends to my research interests and experiences while travelling. Cultural Explorers won’t sit back and watch; they like going off the beaten path and immersing themselves in the local culture and lifestyles. They also prefer travelling with like-minded individuals who seek to experience the culture, people and places they visit. In my experience as a solo traveller, I still find myself surrounded by others with the same energy. I believe that we are also connected through food, especially when travelling; it is a powerful way to share cultural experiences and create a sense of community.

My sense of adventure, curiosity, and the desire to grow drives me and keeps me constantly seeking new opportunities to explore and learn. During my travels, I realized that it is not the number of places I have been, but rather the kitchen tables I’ve sat at, the conversations I’ve shared over coffee, and the memories that I have made.
